What Calhoun Does Best

Before the Friday Night Lights, Calhoun High School players have for 35 years enjoyed a pre-game dinner at First Baptist Church in Grantsville with words of encouragement and the notion that they are loved.

While the game didn’t quite go as desired, (Gilmer won over Calhoun with a score of 18-7) at the season opener on August 31st, the team is still a much beloved source of community pride.

This image (above) captured by Clear Blue Skys Studio, was the personification of what Calhoun County people are known for. Giving. While the passing of the ball was just game protocol for the team, it truly captured how Ridgeview Ne ws feels about the community. Whether it’s the church providing a meal, the kids congratulating each other on a job well done or a heart break in the community where a family needs help, Calhoun residents always step up!

The team will next face Wirt County away on Friday, September 13th. Next Friday is a Bye week for Calhoun, so no game.
