The West Virginia Voter Registration for Calhoun County as of August 31, 2023 shows the Republican Party down only 19 registrants from catching up to the decades of Democratic control. What could have possibly turned up the valve to create a running stream from the Democratic Party?
As of August 31, 2023, the voter registrations are as follows:
COUNTY | DEMOCRAT | REPUBLICAN | MOUNTAIN | LIBERATARIAN | NO PARTY | OTHER |
Calhoun | 1,508 | 1,489 | 6 | 30 | 376 | 4343 |
When looking at the National level in 2023 of Politicians as to who jumped from their own party affiliation, there was indeed one Republican who jumped from the Republican Party to become a Democrat. Samuel Thompson of New Jersey, a notably liberal, Democratic state. One Independent switched to the Democrat party, that being Roy Adams of the House of Representatives in the State of Louisiana.
But when looking at the number of elected officials switching from the Democratic party which they were elected by, the numbers increase.
Two Senate Democrats switched to Independent, Mia McLeo, South Carolina State Senate, and Kelvin Butler representing the Mississippi State Senate.
Five House Democrats who switched to become Republicans were Francis Thompson of Louisiana, Tricia Cotham of North Carolina, Jeremy LaCombe of Louisiana, David Pritt of West Virginia and Mesha Mainor of Georgia.
Jarrod Sammis of Vermont switched from being a Republican to a Libertarian.
But, what should matter most of all is your local representation that for certain your voice on a county level, and to those who represent us on a State Level, who when have the voice to the National level. This is how we go about making a difference. We start right here.
What about our own Prosecuting Attorney, Michael Hicks who switched from the Democratic party to Republican for the purpose of gaining the appointment of Prosecutor? Although the expected outcome of that is he will return to his former Democratic party being that it was reported he received their “blessing” to become a Republican. So the odds of him adopting the platform and beliefs of the Republican party, isn’t that great.
But what is it that is causing the increase of Republicans and the Decrease of Democrats.
For me personally, who was registered Democrat at the age of 18 because my Dad, who I adore, was a Democrat and Assessor in Calhoun County for many years; running and winning that office until his retirement. That is is why I stayed Democrat until 5 years ago, or so. But would my Dad be a Democrat today? Knowing my Father’s faith and belief, I don’t believe he would, for the same reasons that I am not. When the National Party of Democrats took a stand on proabortion, even to the agreement of a child who at birth could be terminated if a mother didn’t want it, I could not have my name associated with such evil. When the Democrats continually promoted and supported statements that a man and womans gender was negotiable, I could not have my name associated with them.
By their own platform, it states “The Democratic Party strives for equality of opportunity for all Americans regardless of sex, age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, creed, or national origin. Many Democrats support affirmative action programs to further this goal.”
They support, promote and work to indoctrinate the youth of America to question their creation and their Creator, while suicide rates soar from the confusion.
But that’s a National stand right? Our local political faction doesn’t believe in that theory, do they? Ask them. Most of the time the answer you’ll receive is a politically correct statement that won’t side for anything because they don’t have the backbone to stand up for what is Biblically and morally correct for the best interest of society. They’d rather cower to the 3% of people who make up that perverted theory. Including the notion that Transvestite men, dressed in sexually explicit costumes should read stories to our children in libraries and schools.
That is what the Democratic party stands for whether or not, the good people, many of which are registered Democrat, believe it or not. I realize we have good Democrat people in Calhoun County. I have family and friends in that party. I wouldn’t intentionally insult or hurt them for love nor money, but nor will I cower down and fail to stand on the side of truth.
The reason the Democrats are jumping ship is because they have come to the realization that their party is not representing the people’s moral compass, but rather using a magnet of evil to turn that compass in a direction that the people want no part of.
I am not fool enough to tell you that everything on the Republican side of politics is 100% upright, but I’m Vice Chair of the Committee in Calhoun County because I believe it stands the closest to the fundamental Christian beliefs that this Nation was founded on. That is why I was not a fan of Michael Hicks jumping party just to get a job, when he in no way has represented the Republican party beliefs and I too believe he will slide back into the Democrat party for which he chaired at one point. People say, it’s just politics. No, It’s a lie. If you don’t align with a party’s beliefs, don’t join. But if that party’s beliefs do not now represent your beliefs, don’t stay a part of them.
If you want to know what we’re doing to make a positive difference from the issues of morality, fiscal responsibility to economy in Calhoun County, come to the Republican Executive Committee meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department at 6:30 p.m.
We appreciate and respect local Republicans who have been elected by the people to appear and allow us to voice the people’s opinion. Mr. Hicks has yet to appear.
