Reverend Alan “Ross” Harold, 85, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on the evening of March 10, 2025. He was living with his son Doug and surrounded by family in his final days. He is now in the arms of Jesus.
Ross was born July 25, 1939 to Rex and Helen Harold. He was born and raised in Uler, WV. He also lived near Spencer and then Rainelle, WV and in Chattanooga, TN before moving to Newport, VA to live with his son Doug shortly before his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Alice.
He is survived by his sons Gregory Harold, Douglas (Lindsay) Harold, Edward Harold, and Johnathan (Bobi) Harold, his daughter Crystal Aruca, and 10 grandchildren (Kristiana, Joshua, Johnathan, Savannah, Reagan, Katelyn, Bailey, Kendra, Riley, and Kelsey).
Ross was a man of many talents, working multiple different jobs over his lifetime. He was an Army veteran, a car salesman, a farmer, a realtor, and ultimately retired from the US Postal Service. But through most of his life, his passion was preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and singing the praises of God. He was an ordained minister who studied at Appalachian Bible College. He served as a deacon and interim pastor and as a traveling evangelist. He would preach and sing wherever the opportunity arose. He also prioritized a Christian education and a godly home for his children.
Some Bible verses that he considered especially important and memorable include:
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. Romans 4:8
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Psalm 32:1
