Almost Heaven swing photo-ops spread across the Mountain State
Grantsville, WV – The West Virginia Department of Tourism will be adding a new Almost Heaven swing to the Bank of the Little Kanawha River on the Avalon Campus in Grantsville. After submitting an application three years ago, The 1982 Foundation will soon receive their photo op and tourist attraction in the not too distant future. There are now over 36 Almost Heaven photo-op swings available throughout the state, making it easy for travelers to access one in all regions of West Virginia.
Calhoun County Park had considered applying for the swing, but in a statement from Park President Donnie Pitts he said that “Applications required two letters of recommendation, I called Eric to see if he would provide one of the letters and he told me the 82 Foundation had already submitted an application. After I found out the 82 Foundation had submitted an application I did not complete our application. I understood there would only be one per county.”
Visitors to the Avalon Campus will have the opportunity to enjoy the resort style Saundra Johnson Aquatic Center, Tiki Taco Hut and view hope under construction across the campus as multiple projects are getting closer and closer to completion and will launch an experience worth the travel!
In 2021, the Calhoun County High class of 1982 formed The 1982 Foundation and purchased the school to turn it into a thriving community center, a hub to bring the county together again. A model for rural America. The Calhoun County Community Center will be a self-funded mixed-use space with meeting rooms, areas for summer camps, a child care center, a gym, a café, and Airbnb units, a shopping center and future K-12 school. The atmosphere stirs excitement in the soul and the new swing will add to the excitement and reasons for stopping by.

Glad to see this happen and it was done the right way.
Thank you 1982 Foundation and commissioner Eric Lupardus for bringing one of these the Calhoun County.
So the swing is going to be on private property? Shouldn’t it be on public property so everyone can enjoy it whenever they want? Just curious
It is most assuredly on public property. The person who posted that comment has been blocked from Ridgeview for lying and using the swing installation to divide the county. The swing will be down by the River next to the very public pool and Avalon Campus in Grantsville. Thank you for asking the question!
Thanks for clarifying 🙂
How is the pool public property. Its owned by a foundation that makes money. Its not costing tax payers dollars for the pool. Please explain.
