Men’s Basketball Controls Pace in 100–73 Win Over Salem

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Men’s Basketball team continued its strong February push Saturday (Feb. 7) afternoon, securing its second-straight decisive victory with a commanding 100–73 win over Salem at the Waco Center. The Pioneers improved to (14-8) overall with the non-conference win.

1st Half
Glenville wasted no time establishing control. Ammar Maxwell opened the scoring with a putback, and Prince Mosengo followed with strong finishes inside as the Pioneers attacked the paint early. Defensive pressure forced Salem into tough possessions, allowing Glenville to build momentum in transition.

As the half progressed, the Pioneers began to stretch the floor. Don Colon-Lewis and Jalen Knott connected from beyond the arc, while Corey Boulden once again delivered an immediate spark off the bench. The sophomore continued his hot stretch, knocking down multiple three-pointers during a key run that pushed the lead into double digits and shifted the game firmly in Glenville’s favor. Ball movement and defensive intensity fueled the separation. Elijah Redfern consistently got downhill, Mosengo finished through contact, and the Pioneers turned stops into points. A dunk from Callum Crossman late in the half capped a dominant opening 20 minutes as GSU went into the break with a commanding 61–34 advantage.

2nd Half
Salem attempted to increase its tempo out of halftime, but Glenville was able to keep the Tigers at bay. Rye Gadd buried a timely three to halt any early momentum, and the Pioneers continued to control the paint while limiting second-chance opportunities. Midway through the half, the Pioneers extended the margin behind defensive pressure and unselfish offense. Mosengo threw down a powerful dunk, and Boulden finished a fast-break opportunity as the Pioneers kept attacking in waves.

The lead continued to grow as Colon-Lewis and Gadd connected from deep, forcing Salem to defend the entire floor. The closing minutes showcased Glenville’s depth and balance. Knott orchestrated the offense, setting a season high with six assists, while Crossman energized the crowd with back-to-back dunks to close out the afternoon. GSU placed multiple players in double figures, underscoring a complete team performance as the Pioneers continue to find their stride.
