
Carl Alan Duelley, 63, of Normantown, WV., (Grass Run community) departed this earthly life quietly in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 16, 2026 at the WVU United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV; following a brief illness, with his loving wife Linda by his side.
He was born January 28, 1963 in Elyria, OH; son of the late Russell Bryan and Marlene Hope (McElwee) Duelley.
Carl is a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1982. He served 25 years as a ground’s keeper for Ike and Sue Morris, whom he lovingly referred to as Mom and Dad. He retired in the fall of 2025 as his health started to decline.
In his spare time, Carl enjoyed wood working, restoring vintage bicycles, and furniture, and building homes around Gilmer County. Carl is a former Little League Baseball coach in Normantown and a big supporter of Gilmer County Titan sports, Glenville State University, and West Virginia University.
On July 1, 1985 Carl was united in marriage to his first wife Donna Lou (Jenkins) Duelley who preceded him in death on July 3, 2018.
On February 27, 2021 Carl was united in marriage to his second wife Linda J. (Metz) Duelley, who survives at their home near Normantown.
Surviving are 2 sons, Adrian Duelley and wife Brittany of Glenville, and Ian Duelley of Normantown, 3 step-children, Ronnie Burkhammer and wife Christina of Weston, WV; Anthony Burkhammer and wife Bella of Harrison County, WV; and Leigh Ann Rose and husband Timmy of Troy, WV; and 3 siblings, Reta McCoy and husband Gary of Buckhannon, WV; Steve Duelley and wife Becky of Ohio, and Ron Duelley and companion Peggy Tanzey of St. Mary’s, WV.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Meadow and Cindy Marks, Dallie Duelley, Kendall and Kamryn Duelley, Ty Wimer, Samantha Lott, Brianna Burkhammer, Westlynn, Ayven, and Jackson Burkhammer, and Caleb Rose, 3 great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Oliver Carder, and Everest Riddle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents (Russell and Marlene) and first wife (Donna), Carl is preceded in death by numerous other extended family members.
Carl’s request for cremation has been honored and a celebration of his life will be conducted later in 2026.
