The Weekend Event hosted by the Calhoun County Commission and Calhoun County Park offered some of the greatest entertainment to those who braved the heat to attend. Local Music Artisan John Richards opened the show at 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening, bringing his mix of Country, Rock and Gospel, treating the crowd to some amazing guitar picking. Mr. Richards is always a well received night of entertainment.
Taking the stage at 7:30 was the featured band, Flat River, who blended beautiful family harmonies, playing multiple instruments and gave plenty of toe tapping opportunities for the crowd who enjoyed their talent. Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee released their brand-new version of the No. 1 hit “Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight” featuring The Oak Ridge Boys is available everywhere. Their concert travels are sponsored by Zebco Fishing Equipment and ten lucky youth received a brand new fishing pole as a gift from the band.
Calhoun residents, young and old, arrived at the concert in Independence attire showing some great American spirit.
At concert’s end the Calhoun County Park drew a winning ticket for a Muzzle Loader Raffle which was won by Phil Hickman.
More Concerts are coming as Calhoun County Parks attendance is being boosted through the Tourist focused efforts of the Calhoun County Commission.
