Dewey Robert “Bobby” Campbell Obituary

Dewey Robert “Bobby” Campbell Jr., 86, of Palestine, WV, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 6, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Bobby is survived by his beloved bride of 66 years, Drema June (Chapman) Campbell; his children, Steve Robert Campbell and his wife, Tracy, of Cairo, WV, Debra June Evans of Palestine, WV, John Eric Campbell and his wife, Regina, of Cleburne, TX, and Mark Anthony Campbell and his wife, Angela, of Palestine, WV.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Erica Renea Bevel and her husband, Carsen, of Cleburne, TX, Dylan Jay Evans and his wife, Jackie, of Morriston, FL, Courtney Kayler Frick and her husband, Alexander, of Cedar Creek, TX, Laura Elizabeth Evans of Palestine, WV, Ethan Cole Campbell and Chandler Fletcher of Cleburne, TX, Loden Nicole Henderson and her husband, Jakob, of Richmond Hill, GA, Elle Lace Campbell of Elizabeth, WV, Josiah Anthony Campbell, and Paislee Ember Campbell of Palestine, WV; and his great-grandchildren, Caden , Charlie, Blakely, Denver Andru,, Addilyn, and Sadie.

His sisters, Ella Louise Peters and her husband, Atomic, of Virginia, and Grace Elizabeth Dalton and her husband, JR, of Virginia; his brother, Jesse Campbell and his wife, Margie, of West Virginia; his sister-in-law, Judy Karen Chapman and daughter, Angie Sue, of West Virginia; and his brother-in-law, Dewey John Chapman and his wife, Patricia, of Texas.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Campbell Sr. and Elizabeth (Litteral) Campbell; his sister, Janet Lee Weddington and her husband, Gary; and his brother, Ronald Gene Campbell and his wife, Susie.

Bobby had quite a range of trades throughout his life. He worked as a millwright at Precision Casting, worked on a mink farm, in construction at coal mines, served as a foreman with Southland Construction in Texas, Oklahoma, and Virginia, and also did taxidermy. He built several homes over his lifetime and was a man who knew how to work with his hands and take pride in what he did.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, playing the piano and guitar, singing, gardening, and boating. Bobby served as secretary of the Church of Jesus Christ at Ohley, WV, for several years and also served as a deacon at the Church of Jesus Christ at Poca, WV. At the time of his passing, he was a member of Calvary Apostolic Tabernacle in Elizabeth, WV.

Services will be Noon on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV 

Bobby will be deeply missed by his family, extended family, and many friends. He will be laid to rest at the Campbell Family Cemetery in Palestine, WV.
