A complaint dated in Calhoun Magistrate Court on September 4th,, 2026 by Corporal DC Moore stated that Corporal Moore was contacted by the Wood County Magistrate Court regarding a Sex Offender who has charges through another state.
A further check showed that the defendant, Gary Albert Ferrell, registered as a sex offender in Calhoun County, WV, but has failed to register for his annual registration in the month of his birth, August. The defendants most previous registration is 10/17/2025, through WVSP- Grantsville Detachment.
The defendant is a registered sex offender for criminal sexual assault of a minor, using force or coercion, with a conviction date of 09/01/2021. The defendant has multiple warrants through the state of Georgia, with an instate pickup only, for failure to register as a sex offender.
Corporal DC Moore respectfully requested and received a warrant for the defendant for one count of failure to register as a sex offender. Mr. Ferrell is being held on a $25,000 bond in the WV Central Regional Jail. His preliminary hearing date has been scheduled for September 15th, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. before Magistrate Lora Davis.
The defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
