Good afternoon:
Please see the following information regarding Mt. Zion PSD.The Mt. Zion Public Service District (PSD) collected bacteriological samples at two separate locations in June. One of those samples collected at the end of a water line indicated the presence of bacteria. Mt. Zion PSD collected three additional samples with one of those indicating the presence of bacteria. The public water system was inspected by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Bureau for Public Health after receipt of the second set of samples and advised Mt. Zion PSD to issue a Boil Water Notice to consumers until further sampling was complete. The Bureau also issued a notice of violation for the present samples which required the water system to notify consumers of the violation. Mt. Zion PSD has been issued an additional notice of violation for failing to adequately notify the public of the original violation. Mt. Zion PSD has reported to the Bureau that they have collected additional samples, but the Bureau does not have the sample results to date. However, the required sampling conducted in July did not indicate the presence of bacteria. The Bureau continues to investigate the incident and ensure the state and federal drinking water requirements are being met.
