Blue Birds and Blue Days

My friend Roger Propst took pictures of a family of bluebirds building a nest in a birdhouse he built on his property up on Phillips Run.

He said he plans to continue to watch the bluebirds.

I hope he does and continues to take pictures of them throughout the spring and summer until the little ones grow up and fly away. I want to keep up with them too.

That’s what I want to do because of the awfulness and the insanity of the last few days.

After having my bubble burst – the one I tell you not to live in – I was licking my wounds and working on a column about the flooding and near flooding here along the Little Kanawha River using the flood level dates my friend Terry Snider Harris had compiled about flooding here in Grantsville.

It was going to have been a rather “dry” column just pointing out facts, especially in light of the building of the dam at Burnsville, because everyone is against flooding.

Right?

Wrong!

Instead, I saw posts on the internet by some, including some who seek to lead us, seemingly cheering for the rising floodwaters especially the floodwaters at Avalon the development going on at the old Calhoun High School and Wayne Underwood Field.

It just seemed to be an “I told you so” to the people building Avalon, especially the new swimming pool, and those supporting them.

This came right on the back of battling over water rates and lamp posts in the town of Grantsville.

There was acrimony followed by natural disaster followed by more acrimony and it seemed as if my bubble had been burst bigtime and everything was going bad and it couldn’t be much worse.

But I was wrong. So wrong.

While trying to lick my wounds (figuratively not literally like a cat) I was watching television when news about 300 or so missiles and drones had been launched from Iran towards Israel came on.

It was much worse than what was going on in my little corner of the world since this one WAS the world.

Hatred and stupidity had boiled over on a worldwide stage and the peace and maybe even the survival of the world hinged in the balance.

And the media – the real media and the so-called “mainstream” media – were quickly in my face telling me not only what was going on, which was horrific, but speculating on what would go on, which was even more horrific.

Why?

As John Belushi says in the movie Animal House when asked why something was done – “why not?”

Why not indeed?

It seems as if the whole thing is a bad dream, and you keep waiting to wake up only to realize you are awake and you pray for sleep.

And the end timers and doomsday sayers danced for joy and they may be right.

Who knows?

Meanwhile back in America our legal system has been bastardized in an attempt to sway an election by driving one candidate out of the race by hook, crook or political fiat so his opponents won’t have to resort to stealing again.

And the leader of that side continues to dodder around making insane and insane statements while having a one-word statement to make to the enemy of our friends about threats to attack our friends – “don’t.”

Don’t? That’s what girls say to boys when the boy wants to go too far not what you tell world terror organizations and their supporters.

Such weak warnings as “don’t” lead to 300-or-so missiles and drones being launched.

But there is time to fix things.

Really.

Before Armageddon really does happen, we may have time to change things peacefully.

First these sham trials of President Donald J. Trump need to come to and end with every verdict going in his favor because it is all an attempt to disenfranchise half of the voters in America.

It is not American it is an attempt to install totalitarianism on the country and if they – the national democrat party, the deep state and the “mainstream” media – get away with it then we get what we deserve.

If those three entities allow President Trump to live and run for President, we need to elect him and add a Republican Senate and Congress if we as a country ever hope to reverse all the damage done in the past three and a half years by the party in power.

Yes, things can change and get better, but it will never happen with the people we have in charge in charge.

It is that simple.

But it won’t be easy since these are the people who allowed the China Flu (Covid 19) to happen, knowing it was happening, and covering it up with a shut down of our lives and then lying about it.

The truth is just now beginning to come out.

Sigh.

But moreover, Monday is April 15th which is affectionately known as Tax Day and guess what the powers that be have hired 87,000 new IRS agents who will be checking up on you and me. That’s right YOU AND ME.

It truly is a battle for America, and it is a battle we must win.

Locally the battle is just as intense if only on a smaller and friendlier level and the answer there is just as simple too – we must choose leaders who support progress instead of maintaining the status quo.

Look and learn who supports building a better Calhoun and support those people. I know I will.

Meanwhile while the world watches the horrible events in the Middle East unfold, we can only pray for the best and we should.

Meanwhile I plan to follow the lives of the bluebirds through the lenses of Roger Propst’s camera while trying to rebuild my bubble.

Until next time stay safe but don’t live life in a bubble.
