Burton Lee Murphy of Chloe, W.Va., went to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
He was born in Gassaway on January 8, 1949, and grew up on Hallburg Road near Big Otter, Clay County, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Vera (Burnside) Murphy of Chloe, W.Va.; two brothers, Garrison Murphy and Roy Murphy and two infant siblings, Francis Murphy and Gene Murphy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn (Moore) Murphy of nearly 56 years; sons, Burton “Matt” (Lynn) Murphy of Chloe, W.Va. and Darrell Murphy (Jennifer) of Rosedale, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Brittany Polland (Rob), Kaitlyn Murphy (Andrew Shepherd), Zayne Murphy, Owen Murphy, Addelyne Murphy and Vera Murphy; several nieces and nephews; one brother, Tex Murphy (Patricia) of Chloe, W.Va.; four sisters, Reva Johnson of North Carolina, Cindy Friend of Chloe, W.Va., Patricia James of Frametown, W.Va. and Gloria Murphy of Chloe, W.Va.
He was a 50-year member of I.U.O.E. Local #132 of Charleston, W.Va. He was a pipeliner and heavy equipment operator.
He enjoyed running his tractor, his home and small farm.
He loved sitting on his porch with his wife enjoying God’s creation and the simple pleasures in life.
He loved all his family, friends and neighbors. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no services.
