Carol Lucille “Sissy” Sprouse, 81, of Normantown, WV; departed this earthly life in the evening hours of Friday, June 26, 2026 at the WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV; following a brief battle with injuries sustained in a May 2026 motor vehicle collision.
She was born October 20, 1944 in Normantown, daughter of the late Clarence and Laura (Marks) Moss.
Carol is a graduate of Normantown High School, class of 1962. She is a former employee at the Kenney Shoe Factory in Glenville and retired from BF Goodrich in Spencer in 2002. In her spare time, Carol enjoyed quilting, gardening, working puzzles, caring for her yard, playing cards, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whenever possible.
She is also a Baptist by faith and long-time member of the Upper Steer Run Baptist Church.
On October 19, 1963 Carol was united in marriage to Stephen P. Sprouse who preceded her in death on December 21, 2021.
Surviving are 4 children, Stephen W. Sprouse and Carol Jarvis (Thomas) both of Normantown, Pamela Tuley of Parkersburg, WV; and Christopher Sprouse (Angela) of Glenville, 7 grandchildren, Brandon Sprouse (Hannah), Jacob Tuley (Gabby), Megan Tuley, Cody Tuley (Mackenzie), Madison Jarvis, Sydney Sprouse, and Hayley Sprouse, 3 great-grandchildren, Barrett, Owen and Millie, and a brother Paul E. Moss (Bobbi) of Tanner, WV.
Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends, all of whom she loved very much.
Along with her parents (Clarence and Laura) and her husband (Stephen P.), Carol is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Marlece Sprouse, and 6 siblings, Donnie L., Kenneth A., and W. Wayne Moss, Arlou M. Minney, June Smith, and Barbara J. Jones.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Upper Steer Run Baptist Church near Normantown, WV; at 11:00 AM; Thursday, July 2, 2026 with Pastor Roger Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Upper Steer Run Baptist Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4:00 – 7:00 PM; Wednesday evening at the mortuary in Glenville.
