CMHS Empowerment Academy students participate in drone tournament

WE HAVE LIFT OFF! Calhoun Empowerment Acadamy participate in drone competition 

On Saturday, February 26th, seven Calhoun Middle students traveled to Fairmont,  WV to compete in the WV Robotics Alliance.  Schools from all across the state came to participate in this exciting aerial drone tournament. 

Calhoun had both a boys and girls team enter the competitionwith their instructor Daniel Cosgrove. In  the boys competition,Tucker Sampson, Coby Staples and Gavin Hicks placed 13th. The girls team, made up of Addie Collins, Kayleigh Cunningham, Annessia Kirby and Aniyah Davis, placed 15th. Most schools competing in this tournament have had a program like this for 3 or more years, while Calhoun Middle School Empowerment Academy has only been training and working with these drones for about two weeks.

So, congratulations kids on all your hard work. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for you.
