Creston News the Week of December 14th

The Creston Community Building Christmas party will be Saturday, December 20 with the meal starting at 3 P. M. And the visit from the polar regions scheduled for 5 P. M. Assuming travel conditions are conducive for sleighs. The Creston area presently is a winter wonderland with something over 5 inches of snow.

Engineer Evans had contractors or contracted equipment out in Calhoun & Wirt counties trimming tree tops as part of his so called “Core Maintenance” while, at the same time allowing water to run across the road that would cause icy spots that could result in accidents, injuries and death.  A local person had occasion to motor down US 19 to Fayetteville and between the Midland Trail & the New River Gorge bridge there are potholes that could compete with Engineer Evans “imperfections in the surface of the roadway” on I-77.  Their specious claim that shade from limbs over the road is easily shown a lie as most of the US 19 potholes are the result of “cold joints” likely caused when the inspectors were not allowed to make the paving contractors do workmanlike paving.  There are no trees that have limbs over US 19 and there is heavy equipment chewing up vegetation that is far from the roadway.

Travel over the weekend was awful even though the snow was predicted and the storm was of a nature that proper planning and treatment would have kept local roads in good winter driving conditions.  Roads could have been pre treated if county operations were allowed to use brine.  The folks who run county road HQs are told “save money and turn it back in”.

Debbie Griffin underwent eye surgery & Denise Bunner got to have her gall bladder removed.

The state tax department has sent out “increase letters”.

Ronald P. Rose, Jr. age 51, formerly of Palestine passed away in Minerva Ohio.  His mother, Mary Barton, lives at Rover.  Burial is to be in the McCray (Snyder) graveyard at Creston.

Denver based Antero Resources purchased HG Energy II Appalachia for $3.9 billion . Quantum Energy Partners had been a big funder for HG and the Texas firm was involved in the deal.  The sale gave Antero 385,000 acres of core Marcellus to add to their 475,000 acres in West Virginia.  The H in HG is Jared Hall, son of Butch & Susan Cain Hall.  Antero has been adamant that they do not want to royalties on NGLs (natural gas liquids) and royalties [and taxes] based on the actual price obtained at an arm’s length transaction for natural gas.

Local folks attended the Region 6 Forestry & Farm Bureau meeting with legislators at the Wood County 4-H Camp on Butcher Bend.

The W. Va. Dept. of Education apparently is furious that folks would question the science involving mandatory vaccinations of children.  Perhaps that are like Fauxchohauntas  Warren, recipients of ‘donations’ from the companies that make a fortune selling untested vaccines.  The issue is now before the W. Va. Supreme Court.

The new governor in Virginia and the Marxist Lt. Gov. Have made it clear that they are in opposition to oil & gas and data centers. This should make the locations of such at the mouth of Katy’s Run near Annamoriah much easier.  It has been noted that the folks who were against hydrofracking oil & gas wells have now morphed in anti data center groups & there are 200 of them, some no doubt funded by  unsuspecting tax payers.

It was noted that in 2025 there were no hurricanes that hit the nation.  Were we not told that “global warming” or “climate change” was causing more hurricanes?  Would these folks tell fibs?

Warren Buffett has announced a plan to put a LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) terminal at Port Canaveral Florida as there is a lot of demand there but no infrastructure.  Warren Buffett’s EGTS [Eastern Gas Transmission & Storage] took over the gas storage & transmission operations in West Virginia from the Rockefeller family.

NASA data now shows that the increased CO2 levels [which have been very low] have increased agricultural and plant growth and water use efficiency across the planet which is, of course, a good thing.  Then there is the question of why taxpayer dollars should be spent to pump CO2 down into brines under the northern panhandle?

Transco Pipeline, now owned by The Williams Company, is now 75 years old.  16% of US natural gas or something over 4bcf [billion cubic feet] go through the line each day.

It has been noted that 60% of the proposed hydrogen projects have been halted or “paused”.  It was noted that there is now no (or little) market for the hydrogen, there are spiralling costs and a “different” regulatory environment.  Meanwhile China is building more coal plants & nuclear reactors to fuel their economy and arm the Peoples Liberation Army and Navy.

Out in California, the land of fruits & nuts, the governor has shut down another oil refinery.  Now to supply fuel he is having to import petrochemicals from other nations.

The next Creston ARV Poker run is scheduled for April 25, 2026.  Mark your calendar and schedule your vacation.

The Creston area has had several power outages recently, one lasting several hours.  Such makes it clear that electric cars (EVs) are not really practical for local folks.  The recent rollback of “pollution” regulations was a good thing.  Perhaps now is the time to fire the entire government agency that tells folks what they can make & sell.

The telephone  calls from the scammers who were promoting medicare plans came to an end, thankfully for those who received 12 or more calls/day.  That frenzy should make it clear that government “health” programs are rife with fraud.  One of the callers said “you have unclaimed benefits”.  One might wonder what that statement really means and then who has access to the health records of citizens.  Reports have shown that fraud in Obamacare remains paramount.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil slipped to $56.44/bbl. With condensate bringing only $38.44/bbl. And Marcellus & Utica light just $45.44/bbl.  Natural gas (elsewhere) took a 20% cut to $4.11/MMBTU.  Gasolene in Parkersburg is now below $2.50/gallon.
