The EHD situation continues to worsen with deer and now for sure in Roane County. Over at Coolville Ohio It was reported that at least one cow died from the disease. Some drone flights have shown 25 dead deer on a 50 acre tract. The DNR said It was “no big deal” but that is the same agency that said “Oh, we didn’t turn loose bears, mountain lions, coyotes and rattle snakes in your area!” That agency has had no credibility now for decades. Speaking of DNR wonder who in the state road (DOH) gave DNR the authority to block access [to the north] to CR 34/3 [ Rock Run] from CR 3/7 known locally as Sugar Camp? Also the DNR installed new gates keeping local landowners from having access to their land. One would trust that keys would be provided, otherwise property owners will have to bring a “universal master key” with them when checking on their land and they might just go in an ATV rather than in a truck or automobile.
Dimbulb apparently is still running the highway department with more money to spend that he knows what to do with. On I-79 the other day heavy equipment was chewing up the bushes and shrubs along the roadway. Do they think that the redbuds are going to jump out and block the roadway?
Tinker Belle & Ralphie were calling on Jack Griffin the other day. J. P. Marks and buddy Lucas were calling on John & Debbie as was Mr. & Mts.
A. C. Marks, Thomas and Little C. Debbie fell the other day but wasn’t seriously injured.
Allegheny Metallurgical Coal will soon have 500 men mining metallurgical coal which is used to make coke for steel making. Likely much of the steel will go to make weapons for the Peoples’ Liberation Army and Navy it is feared. The mine is in Barbour County.
It was reported that Denver based Antero wants to sell their Ohio Utica assets for $1 billion.
There are lots of wildflowers along local roadways, at least where they have not been sprayed. There are many yellow composites and the invasive Japanese knotweed is in bloom. It is said that the knotweed is great for honeybees. At Burning Springs there is a vine that has pretty white flowers along the roadway.
Elise Sheppard & Susan Smith were visiting in Creston one day last week.
The annual trappers’ convention will be September 19 & 20 at the Recreation Center in Glenville.

Big Pharma’s cheerleaders who also have second jobs as U. S. Senators tried to trip up Sec. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over his revamp of the obviously corrupt “health” agency down in the lower Potomac swamps. The cheer squad was led by Fauxcohantas, who, it was noted, has taken just $855,000 from the drug companies who now feel threatened by asking questions about the quality and effectiveness of the products they sell and sometimes force upon us and infants. Seems many “safe products” were never even tested and local folks, like people all over the nation, have autistic family members for whom there is no cure. Considering the uproar over vaccines down at the Mouth of the Elk, West Virginia has its share of stoolies for the big drug companies. That old adage that ” we have the best politicians that money can buy.” Those are the same gentlemen who say we cannot test the meters of the Marcellus & Utica wells that currently fund a significant amount of the state budget. Imagine if the state said fuel pumps are operated on the honor system to collect gasoline taxes.
The Creston area had some good rain and there is water in small streams.
Freddie Bush & associates were hauling hay in the Creston area.
The Ergon catfish fry is Thursday September 18 from 11 A. M. Until 1 P. M. At the Marietta Shrine Club. Ergon is the buyer of local crude oil
Brian Stutler is spending some time in Creston.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude slipped to $60.87/bbl. With condensate fetching only $42.87/bbl. Or just over $1/gallon while Marcellus & Utica light was $49.87/bbl. And natural gas (elsewhere) was just over $3/MMBTU. Some say that crude oil will be in the $50 range next year but Pennsylvania grade crude is used for high dollar end products such as cosmetics, special lubricants, etc. Responsible leaders “Down at the Mouth of the Elk” would see to it that high grade crude does not sell for low grade price. Asphalt grade crudes are used to make black top and roof coating. One does not sell veneer logs at the price one receives for pulpwood.
