Dolores Mysliwiec Obituary

Dolores Mysliwiec, 88, of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life in the morning hours of Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born August 28, 1937 in West Virginia, daughter of the late Alphonsus and Pauline (Slomka) Mysliwiec.

Dolores is a former Sociology Professor for Glenville State University, having retired in 2005. During her career at GSU (1974-2005), she taught Sociology, developed the College’s Behavioral Sciences Program and at one point, served as Division Chair for the Social Science Division. She also initiated Social Studies Fairs for Gilmer County Public Schools and has trained Hospice volunteers in many parts of WV as a Certified National Death Educator and Grief Facilitator.

In her spare time, Dolores enjoyed reading, living the quiet life in Glenville, and she loved to teach. She is Catholic by faith and attended the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, when she was able.

Surviving is a sister, Connie Smith and husband Bill Davis of Carnegie, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with her parents, Dolores is preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Homol.

Dolores’s request for cremation has been honored and a private celebration of her life will be conducted at a later date.
