Holly Parsons, 77, of Elizabeth, WV, passed away at home Monday, April 1, 2024, following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Manford and Ola Greathouse Parsons of Elizabeth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and her husband Opal and Robert Adams and a brother-in-law Roger King.
A Baptist by faith, Holly served in the U. S. Army in Germany from 1967 – 1972. Holly worked at the Viscose, Westvaco, Department of Highways and worked in timber. He was a member for 38+ years of the Elizabeth-Wirt Volunteer Fire Department, a 38-year member of AF & AM #41 in St. Marys and demitted to AF & AM #82 Elizabeth. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and working on old cars.
Holly is survived by his wife of 54 years Sara; his children Craig Kelley, Michael C Parsons and Aaron L Parsons; grandchildren Aaron Michael, Mackenzie Elizabeth, Jade Kye, Hunter David, Eric Matthew, Mika Leann and Madison Lynn; great-grandchildren Gabby, Boo, Anna, Paxton, Laiden, Kreed, Aubs, Makai, Skyler and Benji; siblings Barbara King, Sherman Parsons (Brenda), and Steve Parsons (Kim) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm to 8:00pm and Friday, April 5 from 9:00 am until time of service at Matheny Whited Funeral Home, Elizabeth, WV. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Friday, April 5 at 2:00 pm with military services and Masonic Rites. Interment will follow at the family cemetery on Horse Run Road, Elizabeth, WV.
