
Thirty nine year old Austin William Schaar of Columbia, Georgia has been arrested for Burglary – Entry of dwelling or outbuilding and Attempt to Commit a Felony. He appeared before Magistrate Lora Davis who set his bond at $10,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 10 a.m. before Magistrate Richard Postalwait.
A complaint filed by Cpl. Brian E. Young stated that on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025 at approximately 5:00 p.m., Cpl. Brian E. Young was notified by Calhoun County 911 of an active burglary in process at 1177 Jessie Run Rd, Arnoldsburg, Calhoun County, WV. The officer then proceeded to that location at a high rate of speed along with Calhoun County Sheriff Graham Knight in front of him.
The homeowner and the victim, Caroline Northedge, had called 911 and reported that a male was at her residence
and attempting to get in the doors. The victim stated she was watching all of this happen live on her security cameras.
Trooper Young was advised the victim had also contacted her neighbors who had arrived at her residence and located
the male and had him detained.
Sheriff Knight arrived first and detained the male subject, the accused, Austin W. Schaar, and advised the responding officers of the same.
The victim advised officers that she had video footage of the accused attempting to break in the residence and wished to press charges.
The officers reviewed the videos in which the accused arrived at the residence and begins looking around and attempting to open the doors of the residence and looking through the parked truck belonging to the victims. This continues until the victims neighbor, Mike Starcher, arrives and detains the accused.
Trooper Young noted there was a clear No Trespassing sign at the beginning of the driveway and on one near the residence.
Austin W. Schaar was arrested and transported to the WVSP detachment in Grantsville where he was processed and
charged with attempted breaking and entering with trespassing being the underlying crime.
The defendant is currently housed in the WV Central Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
