Joseph Patrick “Pat” Fulmer, 82, of Elizabeth, WV, passed away November 18, 2025. Born in Parkersburg, WV, he was the son of the late Claude Fulmer and Margaret Strahan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Larry Strahan, Bill Fulmer, Larry Roberts and a nephew Brian Watterson.
He was a graduate of both Wirt County High School and Glenville State College. He was retired from the Wood – Wirt County Health Department. After his retirement, he continued as a teacher in Wirt County. He also served as a Wirt County Magistrate for two terms.
Anyone who played sports in Wirt County knew Pat Fulmer. He coached youth baseball and football, was a member of the Wirt County Sideliners and a member of Wirt County Sports Hall of Fame. Many fans attending high school football games will remember him from the press box as he announced the games.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Estelle Irene Hyre Fulmer; his sons Joseph Patrick II “JP” ( Karri) and David Matthew (Angie); grandchildren Derek Fulmer (Anna), Michael Fulmer (Kelsey), Austin Fulmer (Danielle), Avery Fulmer (Courtney); great-grandchildren Miles Fulmer and Sadie Fulmer; nieces and nephews Tom Fulmer, Kristi Fulmer, Eric Fulmer, Claudia Steele, Carla Young, Missy Roberts and Deidra Roberts and a special friend Lisa Pollard.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 23, 2025, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with funeral services at 5:00 pm at Matheny Whited Funeral Home, Elizabeth, WV. Interment will follow at K of P Cemetery, Elizabeth, WV. Matheny Whited Funeral Home was honored to assist the Fulmer family.
