The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department provided the following update regarding a fatal shooting involving a Calhoun man.
Deputies have identified the man killed last week after breaking into a home on Lick Branch Rd. as Joshua Duff, 35, of Mount Zion, WV.
On Aug. 8, Duff was armed with a bat and knife when he attacked a homeowner, who was armed, outside the residence. The homeowner shot and killed Duff during the altercation.
Just two days earlier, Duff had led deputies on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle, crashing near Lick Branch Rd. He fled on foot and was not located. Investigators believe he remained in the area until breaking into the home.
No charges have been filed against the homeowner. The investigation is ongoing.
