Lesley “Rená” Mason, 34, of Petroleum, Ritchie County, West Virginia, was taken from her family far too soon on Monday, August 3, 2026.
Born on April 24, 1992, Rená was the beloved daughter of Stanley and Stacey Goodnight. She was a loving and devoted mother whose greatest joy in life was her daughters, Zoey and Zara Mason. Her love for her girls was unwavering, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Rená was known for her caring heart, kind spirit, and strong work ethic. Throughout her life, she worked at The Root Beer Shack, Simonton Windows, REM Community Options, and in-home health care. No matter where she worked, she enjoyed helping others, made lasting friendships, and took pride in caring for those around her.
A Christian by faith, Rená found comfort and strength in her beliefs. She loved spending time with her daughters, riding four-wheelers, caring for animals, and being outdoors. Whether she was enjoying nature or making memories with her family, she cherished life’s simple pleasures and the people she loved most.
Rená was preceded in death by her grandmother, Martha Grimm, and her grandfather, Ernie Lamp.
In addition to her parents, Stanley and Stacey Goodnight, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved daughters, Zoey and Zara Mason; her siblings, Nathan Goodnight (Carolyn), Nicole Pridemore (Travis), and Warren Goodnight (Kayla); her cherished nephews, Treyton, Rayden, and Jaysic Pridemore; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Though her time on earth was far too short, Rená’s love, compassion, and beautiful spirit touched the lives of many. Her life was tragically cut short by the hands of another, leaving an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her smile, laughter, and the unconditional love she had for her family—especially her daughters—will never be forgotten. She will be deeply and dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Rená’s life on Friday, August 7, 2026. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Matheny Whited Funeral Home in Elizabeth, West Virginia.
The family asks that Rená be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the joy she found in her children, her kindness toward others, and the many memories she created with those she loved. While she was taken from her family far too soon, the impact she made on the lives of those around her will never fade.
