Orlen Glenn Hess Obituary

Orlen Glenn Hess, 66 of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life suddenly on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at his residence following an unexpected illness.

He was born December 21, 1958 in Glenville, son of the late Oren and Dortha (Gillespie) Hess.

Glenn is a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1977. He worked as a rig hand in the oil and gas industry for a time, but was a truck driver most of his working life. In his spare time, Glenn enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, spending time with his best old bud, Terry “Bubby” Heckert, and eating popsicles with his granddaughter Hala.

Surviving are 4 children, Debra Bee (Robbie) of Glenville, David Hess (Lisa) of Inwood, WV; John Hess (Lisa) of Sand Fork, WV; and Mary Gray (James Burkett) of Martinsburg, WV; 1 sister, Dorthy Elizabeth Starkey of Kansas, and 10 grandkids, Autumn Hess, Seth Gray, Ian Gray, Kolby Gray, Hala Hess, Trenton Taylor, Adriana Athey, Isaiah Taylor, Landon Athey, and Lucas Athey.

Glenn will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be conducted at 1:00 PM; Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Sand Fork Baptist Church, 80 Edna Street, Sand Fork, WV; 26430 with Pastor Tony Conrad officiating. Friends will be received from 12:00 noon – 1:00 PM; Saturday, June 7 at the church. Following the celebration of life, a meal in honor of Glenn will be provided in the church family life center.
