Charleston, WV — The West Virginia Republican Party released the following statement regarding the assassination of Conservative icon and influencer, Charlie Kirk, which occurred yesterday, September 10th, 2025:
The West Virginia Republican Party is deeply saddened by the heartbreaking assassination of Charlie Kirk. We join with our fellow citizens in mourning the loss of a remarkable man, devoted father, steadfast patriot, and bold Christian. The founder of Turning Point USA, Kirk inspired countless young Americans to engage in the conservative cause—one grounded in the timeless, biblical principles of freedom, personal responsibility, and faith.
“Charlie Kirk was a monumental figure in the Conservative movement who devoted his entire life to open debate and dialogue among young people in our country,” said Chairman Josh Holstein. “Charlie inspired thousands of young Americans to be proud of their country, to organize on high school and college campuses, and to boldly stand for the founding principles of our great nation.“
Holstein continued, “Let’s be clear – Charlie Kirk was murdered because of his strong, inspiring, and effective political speech that has ushered in millions of young Americans into the Conservative movement. By taking his life, the assailant has ensured that Charlie’s voice will not cease but echo for generations through the youth he invigorated with passion, conviction, and unwavering loyalty to timeless American values.“
In honor of Charlie’s legacy, the West Virginia Republican Party reaffirms the commitment to strengthening partnerships with Young Republicans, Turning Point USA, and all coalition organizations that defend free speech and inspire civic engagement. We will carry forward Charlie’s mission of empowering young Americans to stand boldly for their convictions without fear.
