The West Central Beekeepers Association LLC gathered March 28th, 2026 for an exciting and interactive meeting that brought members together for both learning and fellowship.

The meeting began with a brief business session before transitioning into an engaging series of “bee talks.” In a new approach introduced by club president Rob Turner, members participated in roundtable discussions designed to encourage conversation and connection.

Five tables were set up, each led by a seasoned beekeeper. Members divided among the tables, creating small groups where they could get to know one another and discuss what to expect in their beekeeping journeys. The format allowed both new and experienced beekeepers to share knowledge, ask questions, and exchange ideas in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Several attendees were new beekeepers participating in the club’s second beginner beekeeping class. Although the session was originally planned as a hands-on demonstration at the training apiary, cold weather required a change of plans. The roundtable discussions ultimately served as a valuable and informative alternative, ensuring participants still received meaningful instruction.
The association continues to see steady growth, welcoming many new members and expanding what members proudly refer to as their “beekeeping family.” A strong sense of community remains at the heart of the organization, with members readily offering support through advice, consultations, and even home visits when needed.
Adding to the day’s excitement, several raffles were held featuring handcrafted items donated by club members. Prizes included swarm traps, supers, and even a complete hive—each built by the skilled hands of fellow beekeepers.
The West Central Beekeepers Association LLC meets on the fourth Saturday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Two Runs Community Center (9131 Palestine Rd Palestine WV). Community members from Roane, Calhoun, Wirt, and surrounding counties are encouraged to attend.
