On Sunday, September 21, 2025, Trooper of S.D. Morris of the Glenville Detachment returned a public service to Joyce S Blauvelt regarding a fraud investigation. Trooper Morris had received a statement via telephone at the West Virginia State Police in Glenville Detachment from Mrs. Blauvelt, who advised to him that she had paid Nathan Allison, the owner of A&A Monument Services, $1,650.00 for a headstone on December 12, 2024, by mailing a check to him, which was written out to Mr. Allison.
Trooper Morris had previous knowledge regarding Mr. Allison and was aware that he was the owner and operator of A&A Monument Services. The officer was informed by Mrs. Blauvelt that she did not receive the headstone and still has not been contacted by Mr. Allison regarding the goods and services, which she paid for in full price on December 12, 2024.
Mrs. Blauvell advised that Mr. Allison previously stated to her that he was waiting on shipment for the headstone and eventually ceased communicating with Mrs. Blauvelt at all. Mrs. Blauvelt stated that after Mr. Allison received payment for the headstone, Mr. Allison did not update her or communicate with her regarding the goods and services she paid for.
Mrs. Blauvelt stated that she was over the age of 65 years old at the time of this transaction.
Having received multiple complaints from the Attorney General’s Office regarding information of the same crime being committed by Mr. Allison, the owner of A&A Monument Services the officer is able to determine repetitive actions within each complaint, that supports a common scheme or plan, where Mr. Allison had failed to provide customers with product after their payment has been received.
These events occurred in Calhoun County, West Virginia.
Therefore he has been charged with Financial Exploitation of an Elderly person in violation of §61-3-24d(a) Fraudulent Scheme.
Nathan Allison was arrested on September 22, 2025 at which time he posted a 10% cash bond of $200.00. His preliminary hearing is scheduled in Calhoun Magistrates Court on October 10th, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. before Magistrate Richard Postalwait.
Mr. Allison is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
