The "cruise in" for the antique cars will be held Saturday, May 21 at the Creston Community Building.  The kitchen will be open and all are welcome.   The hours are from 3 P. M. until 8 P. M. For details contact Kathleen Cervone.

The water went down and folks were able to drive to the Creston Community Building for the election.  Peonies are starting to bloom and locust blossoms are at their finest.  Some local folks have been feasting on the deep fried delicacies.   The invasive garlic mustard needs to be pulled up by the roots before the seeds mature.

For those who like astronomy and want to learn about the night sky around us, there will be a Star Party at the Calhoun County Park at the held of Phillips Run on Saturday, May 21 starting at 7:30 P. M.  Bring your own telescope if one has one otherwise there will be some there and their use will be explained.

Last week some local folks had occasion to travel in the Cadiz Ohio region.  In addition to well maintained Utica well pads there were some very impressive gas processing facilities .  These Ohio operations, along with the compressors and fractionation plants in West Virginia make it clear how significant the Marcellus & Utica formations are for, not just the local area, but the entire nation.  Oil & natural gas make the nation run.  Of course if the green weenies object, we can always go back to coal.  One thing for sure if folks take "Mayor Pete's" advice and all buy electric cars the only way the grid could continue to operate would be for shut down coal plants to come back on line.

The comely Kim was calling on her mother, Wilma Mowrey, and both were attending to business in Elizabeth.

Cap'n Spock has been working on the crew that is placing stone on the old B & O Railroad bed in Ritchie County.  It was noted that backing dump trucks across trestles is "an experience".  Work is progressing at a rate of 3 miles/day.

Roma Whiting, the electric motor man, was attending to business in Creston one day last week.

Some first cutting hay has been made.  Most places it isn't ready and the ground is too wet.  Also lots of low ground hay has "excess minerals", that is to say, it was covered with muddy water.

The Wirt state road crew has been mowing the berms along W. Va. 5.  There was also some work at the Burning Springs Oil field Park near the Rathbone oil well.

Recently, a local resident acquired a signed copy of Frederick Way's book "The Saga of the Delta Queen".  There are signatures and address from several folks from all over the nation which would indicate that this individual copy was at a significant gathering that all the attendees signed..   Signers included a nun from Philadelphia, folks from Anna Maria Island Florida, Racine, Wisconsin, Avon Massachusetts, Columbus Ohio and many Ohio River towns. The late Nellie Engelke knew Cap'n Way and collected many river items. 

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude rose to $109.49/bbl. with condensate fetching $95.49/bbl. while Marcellus & Utica light sold for $100.49 and medium $109.49/bbl.
