James Arthur “Art” Bell, II Obituary

James Arthur “Art” Bell, II, 72, of Grantsville, WV, went peacefully to the Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at his home, off Phillips Run on Bear Run Rd., Grantsville, WV, with his wife by his side.

He was born October 5, 1951, at the Bell family home on Phillips Run, a son of the late James Arthur and Lora Juanita Bell.

Art enjoyed photography, playing music, and providing the sound system for the bands playing at various festivals.  He joined the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and served until he was severely injured while performing his duties on a salvage ship.  He experienced a long and painful healing process.  While in the Navy, Art was training to become a nuclear electrician. He worked at many other jobs including EMT-Calhoun Ambulance Service, maintenance supervisor at Calhoun General Hospital, later MHHS, and finally, he was involved with the Calhoun County VFW, serving as the Quarter Master.  After retiring completely, Art and his wife Bambi enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, and camping.

In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by two nephews, Thomas Bell and Holly Bell II.

Survivors include Bambi (Davis) Bell, his wife of 6 1/2 years; his children, Christopher R. Bell and Vaness Henkel, both of Grantsville, WV, and special daughter Chrystal Frame (husband Dyer and their children) also of Grantsville; grandchildren, Cody Henkel of Parkersburg and Samantha Gordon Cantù (Jayden) of Grantsville; brothers, Alan Bell of Grantsville and Holly Bell (Patricia) of Alexandria, VA.

Per Art’s request, his body was cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  His ashes will be scattered on the Bell family farm.  Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV, has been entrusted with following Art’s wishes.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
