Joshua Lee Ash, 42 of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life in the late evening hours of Friday, September 18, 2026 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV; following a sudden illness.
He was born June 28, 1984 in Grantsville, WV; son of the late Delbert R. and Jennie Lynn (Ash) Carter.
Josh is a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 2003. He spent most of his working life as a laborer in the lawn care industry, but was known around the community as someone who would lend a helping hand with any task.
Josh had a huge heart and loved helping people and in his spare time enjoyed hunting, fishing, helping at Western Auto in Glenville, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling his nieces and nephews whenever possible.
Surviving is a sister, Rebecca D. Carter (William Workman) of Baldwin, WV; 4 nieces and nephews, Gabriella Carter, Noah Workman, Matthew Workman, and Gracealynn Workman, all of Glenville, his grandmother, Wava Brown also of Glenville, and beloved pet dog, Duke.
Along with his parents (Delbert and Jennie), Josh is preceded in death by 2 uncles, James Ash and Raymond Clayborne.
A celebration of Josh’s life will be conducted at the Gilmer County Rec Center, 1365 Sycamore Run Road, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 10, 2026 with Pastor Dwight Goff officiating, with a dinner will follow also at the Rec Center. Gathering of family and friends along with stories of Josh will start at 10:00 AM. Following dinner, a memorial lawn mower and/or ATV ride will be held at the Camden Flats Baptist Church, 510 Kanawha Street, Glenville, WV; 26351 in honor of Josh. All are encouraged to attend but please respect others and the community of Camden Flats, while also celebrating the life of a cherished community member.
