
Ronal R. “Barney” Bonnett, 85, of Glenville, WV; (Baldwin Community), departed this earthly life just past midnight on Monday, March 16, 2026 at the West Virginia Caring Hospice House in Elkins, WV; following an extended illness.
He was born January 8, 1941 in Glenville, WV; son of the late Ercil and Lorena (Frame) Bonnett.
Barney is a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served his country with honor and distinction during the Vietnam War. He worked many years for Dowell in Glenville as a supervisor and safety man and retired from Air Products in Parkersburg as a truck driver. In his spare time, Barney enjoyed socializing, staying active at the Gilmer County Senior Center, playing bingo and cards with his friends, fishing, tinkering in his garage, and he was a Christian by faith.
On September 13, 1966 Barney was united in marriage to Thelma Mae (McCartney) Bonnett, who preceded him in death on September 23, 2009.
Surviving are 3 sons, David Bonnett and wife Trena of Jane Lew, WV; Ronal Lee Bonnett and fiancée Andrea Rounds of Fairmont, WV; and Adam Bonnett and fiancée Melissa Watson of Glenville, a step-son, Kenny Allman and wife Martha of Traverse City, MI; and a step-daughter, Kathy Swiger and husband Tim of Baldwin.
Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Hannah, Amber W., Heather, Timmy, Stacey and Amber M., several great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his wife (Thelma), and is parents, (Ercil and Lorena), Barney is preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Bonnett, a grandson, Jason Swiger, and a brother, Donald Bonnett.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 2:00 PM; Saturday, March 21, 2026 with Pastor DJ Nunan officiating. Burial will follow in the Hiney Cemetery near Linn, WV; with Full Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force. Friends will be received from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM; Saturday at the mortuary in Glenville.
