The social event of the season, the famous Creston Halloween party is scheduled for Saturday, October 25 starting at 5 P. M. It is for “children” of all ages. At past events some guests were never identified as their costumes were so good. There will be judging for ALL age groups. See you there if you dare. It will be at the Creston Community Building, which for the evening might be haunted.
The Creston Community Veteran’s Day event will be Sunday, November 9 at 2 P. M. All veterans, friends and family are invited. There will be speakers and refreshments.
Barbara Wright is having a big birthday celebration this week and some friends from Ohio are going to assist with the details.
It was 36 degrees Fahrenheit the other morning but Jacques Frost has yet to visit Creston. Some leaves are beginning to turn with a few maples along with sumac, sassafras and dogwoods. Other areas report that there was frost on rooves, etc.
Mary Newton was visiting Mr. & Mrs. John Griffin & Jack.
Minnie Hamilton, the hospital & health facility in Grantsville, announced that they are not part of the plan for Peak Advantage Medicare Plan which, it was learned, is part of West Virginia University. Seems the ‘educational facility’ owns ambulance services, runs hospitals & clinics, operates professional sports teams with hired players, campaigns against elected legislators that do not kiss the ring, etc. It was also noted that the university is very deep in debt and It would appear that “book learning” is perhaps the least of their concerns.
The USDA (Department of Agriculture) earlier this year in West Virginia & western Pennsylvania spread 364,000 live virus rabies baits which contain a live gmo (genetically modified) vaccine. It is understood that folks were not advised that the experiment was being done on private land or even in towns. As they say, “We’re here from the government and we are going to help you.”
The Creston Food Pantry is having difficulties and is going to curtail food distributions to once a month. The next food pantry is scheduled for November 21st.
A number of Creston residents attended the W. Va. Farm Bureau Resolutions Committe meeting in Flatwoods. Seems the coal companies now want to force pool coal properties and some quick buck artists want to store CO2 in deep brines ‘forever’.
The Morristown community building had their pancake breakfast Saturday which was fine eating.
Local residents on Saturday were invaded by Asiatic beetles (government lady bugs). Seems Bill & Hillary Clinton had them turned loose to fight aphids on pecan trees with, no doubt, a nice donation. Others are having to deal with the government stink bugs.
Elsewhere there were the no kings rallies funded in part by Hamas backers, Iran and perhaps other hostile powers. George Oakley was at the battle of Yorktown to make sure America didn’t have a king and his son-in-law, William Rodman Hopkins helped reinforce the issue during the War of 1812. They have several Creston area descendants.
Ergon, the crude oil buyer, will have a big catfish fry October 23 at their terminal in Nashport Ohio. For reservations call 1-740-371-5327. Their belly buster at Marietta earlier in the season was wonderful.
Gary & Allen Ferrell were attending to business in Creston one day last week.
Alabama banker Rusty Hutson, Jr. who has Diversified, a company that owns thousands of oil & gas wells in West Virginia, and Gov. Morrisey announced a new program called Mountain State Plugging Fund to plug abandoned wells. Hutson had been getting government money to plug wells. Not so long back they plugged one and didn’t bother to tell the well owner.
It is said that folks in Pennsylvania are working hard to bring to fruition the big $92 billion program to build power plants & data centers in Pennsylvania but then some of the green weenies in their legislature are working to stop the projects and to even stop hydraulic fracturing of natural gas & oil wells. Seems that a similar thing happened recently in Mingo County — why we can’t do things that compete with the Peoples Republic of China, now can we?
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil is $56.54/bbl. With condensate fetching just $38.54/bbl. And Marcellus & Utica light bringing $45.54/bbl. Natural gas [elsewhere] is $3.01/MMBTU.
