Edward A Eisley former Police Chief at the Liberty Police Department has passed away. The Chief arrived at the Police Dept. In 1983 and served honorablly until 1992. Upon his arrival swift changes were made almost immediately adding to a streamlined record system, proper security, the Police K9 Service Dog named Lothar, a Cadaver dog named Beauregard, a drug intradiction dog named Gabby with his handler Officer McCarthy, Mounted Patrol with a horse named Pickles and his handler Officer Bromm, hardening of the police Headquarters, tactical weapons including police firearms and combat readiness for the department for each officer. Strict training policies were introduced and were adhered to. The departments Shock and Awe from the Chief’s changes brought about a professional police department that quickly made the public and his officers safer.
Chief Eisley, a Vietnam Combat Veteran who died as an Agent Orange Warrior had struggled for the past eight months in a Veteran’s Hospital with this that he carried with him through the years. Bringing with him his veterans experience, he also brought to Liberty his training from the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Training Academy where he was a graduate.
The Chief returned to America facing an ungrateful nation and still managed to forge forward in his personal and professional life. Although most of the people who lived and dealt with him did not see his sense of humor, he often had his times when his humor would show. The Chief is survied by his wife Patty Eisley and their Son Ryan and lives in Grantsville, Virginia after his retirement.
Rest easy Chief.
