Christian Nationalism Hits the IVF Wall

Ridgeview News is 100% Pro-life and the opinion of this writer does not align in anyway with the fundamental Christian beliefs of my publication. I do believe in freedom of speech as described in the 1st Amendment and believe it is good to know what beliefs contribute to our community.

Christian nationalist Republicans, led by House Speaker Mike Johnson under the thrall of Donald Trump, plan to impose their version of Christianity on America.

What that will look like just came into focus in Alabama where its Supreme Court decided 8-1 that frozen embryos were “little children” with full personhood rights who could not be damaged or destroyed without incurring criminal liability.

The Alabama IVF (in vitro fertilization) ruling has all the trappings of a legal decision – citations to cases and statutes – but it is an almost purely religious document, not a legal opinion.

The Court’s analysis begins by assuming the conclusion: “All parties and every member of this court agrees” that the life of “an unborn child . . . begins at fertilization” and that an unborn child is a “person.”  Thus, a frozen embryo is a child with full personhood rights.  QED.  The remainder of the opinion does nothing but illogically squeeze the foregone conclusion under the Alabama Wrongful Death Act.

Chief Judge Tom Parker’s concurrence proclaims the religious underpinnings. The Alabama Constitution recognizes “the sanctity of unborn life,” which is the text Parker takes for hissermon/concurrence.  He quotes Thomas Aquinas, John Calvin, and the Bible to show that “even before birth, all human beings bear the image of God, and their lives cannot be destroyed without effacing his glory.”

Human life, Parker preaches, “cannot be wrongfully destroyed without incurring the wrath of a holy God, who views the destruction of His image as an affront to Himself.”

The Alabama IVF ruling is a theocratic pronouncement, an autocratic fiat based on the Christian Bible, not on law.  It displays to America the type of laws and legal rulings we will see if Christian nationalists gain power, as they have in several states, including West Virginia.

Theocracy is an authoritarian system that imposes arbitrary and cruel rules on the personal and private parts of people’s lives(unlike Jesus). The right exhibits a disturbing fascination with people’s intimate concerns – gender choices, sex acts, contraception, childbearing.  There can be no live-and-let-live because in the Christian nationalists’ world view, everyone who does not believe as they do is morally wrong, even evil. Political opponents become existential enemies.

There are no religious autocracies in the world where women have equal rights.  The Christian right wants an American social order where women are second class citizens. Women are not mentioned in the Alabama ruling, except as uteruses.

When laws are interpreted using Christian doctrine, there can beno separation of Church and State because the Church is the State.  A foundation of our democracy is destroyed.  The Constitution loses its power to protect minorities (atheists, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists) from the tyranny of the majority – even if Christian nationalists were the majority – and they are not.

The Alabama IVF decision reveals two big problems for the theocratic right-wing moralists’ planned takeover:  1 – their views are absurd and 2 – a majority of Americans oppose their theological conclusions.

IVF requires that more embryos be created than are needed.  Some do not develop, some exhibit genetic problems, and some are not needed once a viable pregnancy results.  The unused embryos are discarded or maintained in a “cryogenic nursery.”

Once one accepts that human life begins at fertilization and that, as 12 states have already legislated, unborn children have full personhood rights, the IVF ruling is logically inescapable.

Logical arguments can be proven false if their premises lead to an absurd conclusion – reductio ad absurdum. The Alabama IVF argument that a child is created at the moment of fertilization and unborn children have full personhood rights leads to the absurd conclusion that IVF cannot proceed because embryos are destroyed.

How do we know that the conclusion “IVF cannot proceed if embryos are destroyed” is absurd?  Because Republicans now say so.

Republicans are in a frenzy because, once again, they find themselves on the wrong side of national popular opinion about reproductive rights.

Public support for IVF is overwhelming.  Even 83% of evangelical Christians support it, despite their purported belief that life begins at conception.  Only Catholic doctrine is consistent – Catholics teaching rejects IVF.

Speaking for most Republican politicians, Nikki Haley contradicts herself: “Embryos are babies” and “I completely support IVF.”  IVF must proceed, Republican politicians now say, for the couples for whom IVF was the last hope to have children.  (Somehow IVF is a couple’s problem, while abortion is a “women’s issue,” although both unavoidably require a sperm donor.)

Republicans’ feigned horror at the IVF ruling would be laughable if it weren’t so disgustingly hypocritical because their proposed Life at Conception Actwhich they seek to impose nationally, has 125 Republican co-sponsors and no carve-out for IVF.

Alabama legislators are rushing to pass a bill that says “Embryos are not children,” which is correct as a matter of fact.  (John Oliver explained that embryos and children cannot be the same because you can freeze an embryo, but you can’t freeze a child.) This legislative “fix” however, reopens the huge question theright thought they had foreclosed – the timing of their abortion bans.

The IVF decision also clearly reveals that Roe was a wall protecting not just abortion rights, but all of women’s (and men’s) reproductive rights.  The Dobbs decision tore down thatwall so that Republican-led states can now legislate not just against abortion, but against all reproductive freedom – contraception (IUDs prevent embryos from implanting), morning-after pills, IVF and any “unnatural” practices, like surrogacy.

The IVF decision brings Republican’s Christian nationalism and anti-woman agenda back to the forefront of the 2024 election up and down the ballot

If you reject theocracy and believe that citizens’ religious beliefs should be as private as their sex lives, neither dictated by the State, vote Biden for president and vote Blue for every other office.  The IVF decision shows we must reject the Christian mullahs’ attempt to rule our country and our lives – now.

  1. A point of clarity. This writer’s views are defined by her extreme far left ideology. “Christian Nationalism” is a creation of the far left in an attempt to ridicule Christian beliefs and “cancel” believers’ views. The great state of West Virginia will vote 80% in favor of Donald Trump for President in 2024. Ms. Purdy thinks that 80% is misinformed and brainwashed. We have seen in the last three years what her ideology has done to America in the actions of the Biden administration. Given another four years of Joe Biden and our democracy will be lost. She is willing to risk everything to support a physically feeble, senile, cognitively impaired shell of a man in the upcoming election. Fortunately, we have all seen with our own eyes Joe Bidens physical and cognitive decline. It is embarrassing for Democrats, and worse yet, his family to allow this to continue. Vote for Donald Trump and Republicans down ballot so we can get on with putting this country back together brought on by the failed Presidency of Joe Biden.

  2. I agree with almost everything you say here Roger. We see the destruction that the Dems have inflicted. MAGA is a movement that conservatives embrace because in part, of our Christian values. The Dems try to infer that Christian Nationalism is a bad thing. I am not ashamed of the fact that I am Christian and believe that the Word of God is how I try to structure my life and beliefs. I often fall short, but I have a God who overcomes. If I choose to live my life that way, does it interfere with those who live in direct opposition? Obviously. Otherwise the vitriol would be non existent. Last I seen, this is still America and we are free to worship and believe or not worship and believe as we see fit. Because of the extreme damage caused by the liberal agenda which seems bent on destroying America, any opposition, especially one that brings ethics and morals into play is met with everything from name-calling to imprisonment as the Jan. 6 defendants know to well. Some Dems are even calling for Christian Nationalists and MAGA adherents to be rounded up into camps for re-education. Is it for our benefit or are their shades of Nazi Germany in play here. As far as INV As a Christian we have our beliefs. As Mrs. Purdy has stated, it is biblically based. I could quote several verses but I will start with this — In Jeremiah 1:5 God says, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; . Abortion is all the Dems have to run on now. The overturning of Roe v Wade gives some of them fits of anger. As we see. All the Supreme Court ruled was that Dems can still murder the unborn, it is just they will have to follow their home states guidelines. Ironically enough, the woman that Biden paraded as his poster child for Abortion during the State of the Union, had her Dr. speak out in an interview. He said the reason for the abortion was not because the mothers life and reproductive future was in danger. It was because the child would of been born with birth defects and she did not want that. Just one more lie on top of others. Biden and his cohorts lies and shortcomings can be debated until the end of time. Just as all of us and our shortcomings. But we have a God who forgives when repentance is enacted. Biden, no matter his personal beliefs should be the president for all. Not prosecuting and at the very least name calling and ostrosizing those who disagree with him. But that seems to be the Dems. way. the only thing I disagree with Mr. Propst he in his response is voting Republican on everything. Rinos are what split the Republican party and empowered Democratic agendas. We need to vote for true Republicans. We need to support them and stop wasting resources on those who are not. Look at Nikki Haley as an example. The Pence’s Romneys, McDaniels etc should not get there in the first place. But let the ballot box decide. As long as it is fair and honest. A house divided cannot stand. This next election will let the people decide our fate.

    1. Michael, thanks for responding to my comments on this subject. My comment on voting Republican is in races between Republicans and Democrats. I agree with you on the RINO portion of our party, but not enough to vote for most Democrats. In order to get anything done in government a party needs a majority in both houses of Congress. Even better when your party has both House and Senate majorities, and the presidency. I am not a fan of Mitch McConnell, John Thune, “Mitt” Romney, and others in my party now.

      1. I understand and appreciate what you say Roger, and if the party RINOS were not so blatent and dividing, as well as being decietful by running as a Republican and voting as a Democrat, I would embrace your talking points. Unfortunately, some in the party still embrace the Rinos and what they stand for. Speaking for myself, when one is put into a position to choose between the beast and the Anti- Christ, who do you choose? The answer is obvious. Neither.

  3. I think I need to clarify my position here. For years, as Republicans, we have been told that even if the candidate was far from our ideal, we just need to hold our noses and vote for them anyway. How has that worked out. That is a major reason why the party is in the state it is now. If you vote for a RINO, the only thing you are voting for is a vote against an “Official” Democrat. You are just hoping that the Republican will come thru some time, some way, some how. Ask Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and others who have betrayed Republicans almost on everything. And the Republican party has to bear some responsibility for that. It is the party leaders who need to recruit true Republicans and support them. Not just settle. Settling was suggested to put a band-aid on the bleeding. Then it was a tourniquet. Now, in many areas it is on life support. Thank God for Trump. But look what he has been going thru. How many Republicans were ready to throw him under the bus for DeSantis, or Haley, or Vivek. I could go on but the bigger question is “Is it to late to recover”? No. but we need to do like the Democrats, in one respect. At the end of the day, the Democrats will unite and support their candidates and agenda. At least you know what they truly believe and their agenda. With the Rinos, you roll the dice. Are the odds with the house? Just ask why casinos get rich and expand so fast.

  4. I’ve been reading, with interest, your attitudes toward a man who mocked a disabled reporter; bragged about grabbing women between their legs; and spit on the outstanding service of a true American hero who served his country with the highest honor (that would be John McCain, in case you devout Republicans have forgotten).
Any one of those incidents is enough, for me, to determine that particular individual is not fit for any office, let alone, the highest office on the planet.
Add in, January 6, 2021 and, as far as I’m concerned, he belongs in prison, not the White House.

Having moved to Calhoun County from Atlantic City, NJ, I’m more acquainted with Trump and his business practices prior to his entry into politics than most folks from this neck of the woods.
I’m not claiming any superiority, here, however, I am claiming superior knowledge of a man I’ve been forced to observe since the 1990’s…. From back when he was a pro-choice Democrat and good friends with both Clintons (I’m pretty certain he was invited but, I can’t remember if he attended their daughter’s wedding, or not).
And, speaking of the Clintons, I can proudly proclaim I never voted for either one of them: Hillary because I believed a lot of the same people’s rhetoric who are bad-mouthing Joe Biden, today and, Bill because, a man who cheats on his wife would be just as willing to cheat on his country (ahem, Trump).
Meanwhile, I opened the Taj Mahal as a boxperson (the immediate supervisor who sits in the center, or ‘box’ position, of a crap table). It was a nightmare. Frankly, I’ve never seen anything like it: employees would step on each other’s neck, stab each other in the back or, run someone off the Parkway if they thought it would get them an advantage for upward mobility. Worse yet, anyone in management, to whom I made that observation, told me the same thing: that’s how the ‘boss’ likes it.
I don’t know what your management style is but, where I come from, that kind of work environment is, not only, evil it’s counterproductive. It causes more stress in an, already, stressful environment, more days out of work for employees — it’s just stupid and BAD, all the way around.
There are two ways to bankrupt a casino (and, neither of them involve a world class gambler): poor management and/or skimming.
    Take your pick.
Then, there is THAT picture of him with Ivanka when she was in her teens, coupled with that horrific comment about how, if she weren’t his daughter, he might be dating her (?!). And, let’s not forget what he said to Howard Stern about how his making it through the 70’s without contracting an STD was equivalent to surviving Vietnam.
When his first wife, Ivana, gave birth to their son, Trump was dubious about naming him after himself asking, “what if he grows up to be a loser?” What kind of man thinks that way about his FIRST newborn child?
It’s quite obvious none of you have read a single word about or by the man: in The Art of the Deal, he bragged about punching his second grade music teacher because the teacher “….didn’t know anything about music.” Though, there doesn’t seem to be any verification that the story is true — which begs the question, why would anyone make that up?
He also, goes on about his time in military school: I know that his father strongly disapproved of military service and, in fact, disowned his first-born namesake (Fred, Jr.) for enlisting in the US Air Force so, why does a man who feels that way about the military send his son to a military school? Where I come from, there are only two reasons parents send a kid to military school: one is a military officer who wants the best start for his/her military-bound kid or, the parents had to choose between military school or juvenile detention and, since Fred Trump had the means, he could do that much for his budding sociopath son.
Observing the difference in the man between the one who made opening comments at the Taj to the tweeting twit of 2016 to the bitter, discontented mass of psychopathology I see, today, I have no idea who you people are talking about. You don’t have the slightest idea who he is and, frankly, I’d like to think, that if you knew as much about him as I do, if you knew who he truly is, you would be as horrified as I am about the support he enjoys from, who, I’m sure, are otherwise decent people.
Unfortunately, I know who Trump truly is and, hard as I try, I can’t help but wonder who you are for supporting him. Especially when you’re so certain of his pro-life bona fides in spite of all evidence to the contrary.
As far as Joe Biden is concerned, I have had the actual pleasure of also meeting him during his first reelection campaign in 1978 at an IBEW event. I know him to be who he says he is: as a devout Catholic, he started his career as pro-life but evolved into pro-choice in deference to the First Amendment and the 1973 SCOTUS decision, Roe v. Wade.

Having been partially raised by a narcissist then, having been married to a narcissistic psychopath for eight years, I spent enough of my life living with cognitive dissonance: I’m not sure how Joe Biden manages to be the head of a “criminal enterprise” but can’t tie his own shoes: Which is he, a criminal mastermind or doddering old fool?
Make up Trump’s mind, he can’t be both.

If you have truly observed Trump, then you can’t possibly have missed the fact that he possesses nothing that cannot be purchased: by that I mean things like common decency, compassion, honor… or a vocabulary beyond the fifth grade.
Why did he lie about COVID? He had nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing that.
Why does he lie about everything?
    Because he can’t help himself.
That is who he is. When he tells that story about the snake (“… you knew what I was when you picked me up”), he is telling you who he is — ask anyone who has lost his favor and felt that bite.
He used to be a much better liar. So good, I actually believed him, myself, once. But, I was set straight by a Teamster who introduced me to an electrician friend of his and showed me the twenty acre spread, outside of Atlantic City, that had been in their family for four generations. Except it had been reduced to ten acres when they had to sell the half of the property that had their electrical contracting business on it so they could keep the half with their home on it. And, they considered themselves lucky that they had an asset to sell in order to save their home — not every contractor who worked for Trump and didn’t get paid was that fortunate.
I actually thought he might be a nice guy, once. I know better, today. I thought he would fix Atlantic City, once. He couldn’t fix anything if his life depended on it.
What puzzles me most of all is how a man who has never suffered a blister or callous on hand or foot, who has never cleaned a speck of dirt from under his perfectly manicured nails, a man who couldn’t tell you that a phillips head is a screwdriver, has managed to convince so many hard working Americans that he knows anything about their lives.
Look up the 2025 project, his plans for a complete takeover of the federal government. Listen to what he is saying and keep in mind, he does not possess a sense of humor; he is NEVER “joking.”
I could go on and on and on about ugly and disturbing second-hand stories and direct observations I made, myself regarding Trump.
I can, also, show you the neighborhood where Joe Biden grew up — it was just across the railroad tracks from where I grew up (I was on the “good” side, lol).
I’ve met them both and, between the two men, there is no comparison: Donald Trump is an empty suit, there is no substance there.
Joe Biden is an extraordinarily decent human being. The reason he and John McCain were such good friends, in spite of party differences, is because they were cut from the same cloth.
In fact, the last true words I remember hearing out of Lindsey Graham’s mouth were something to the effect of “Joe Biden is one of the most decent human beings God put on this earth.” Of course, Graham might deny that, now because of his apparent loss of decency.
You talk of “RINOs” like Trump is the real deal. Well, I’m old enough to remember a Republican Party that wouldn’t have let that man in the door with a briefcase full of hundred dollar bills so who is the RINO?

    1. I think as a former disgruntled Trump employee you have skewed some facts to fit your narrative. Biden a good person? Left Americans and 85 billion dollars in his pullout in what has been described as the most devesting embarassment in U.S.history. What about Bidens connection with hair and children! Ot his daughter ? How do you like the thing we call inflation? You must approve of Bill Clintons liason’s in the White house, especially Monica’s dress. Or Hillary’s Emails. Bengazi, and a whole slew of other things we can list for days. We came from Ca. and know several other people who moved here from N.J. and other states who will also refute your perception of Biden and Trump. With facts to back it up. Look, if you like his policies, like abortion ( which fits his so called Catholic faith) Amnesty for illegals, (Which I am sure you are proudly sponsoring and furnishing food, housing and medicare care for personally, letting criminals out of jail to rape and murder, then again, I have to wonder why you would leave New Jersey, You could of had all that there . We can be on totally opposite ends of the political spectrum and still live among one another. That’s what the ballot box is for. The only thing that give me hope here in West Virginia , especially in Calhoun County is that the ballots that are cast and counted will be precise and exact. Our county clerk takes great precautions to see that is so. Unlike New Jersey or Ca. where the political machines count votes with “creative accounting” Alot of us left our states to move here because West Virginia is truly, in our opinion the only state that has the motto “God, Guns and Country. That is a big reason we came here. The left wing, woke politics drove us out. It seems you brought those with you here. God Bless. We will be praying for you.

  5. “Former disgruntled employee?”
Casino burnout usually occurs in five years or less: I lasted over 11 years in the industry, spending the last five in surveillance — with a key license, paid for by the company — to this day, I have nothing to be disgruntled about.
Maybe, if I’d been dumb enough to invest in Trump stock, I might have had a reason to be disgruntled but, by the time he went public, I knew better.
A casino job is one of the easiest to keep and the easiest to get rid of: show up for work, on time and you’ll have a job for life — competence is not required.
If you quit, you have to wait six weeks for unemployment. If you make them fire you for call outs, they have to let you have your unemployment immediately.
Frankly, the day I went to work, fully expecting to be fired, I was more terrified that I wouldn’t be fired for some unforeseeable reason. As it was, I left the building feeling like the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders. Then, my immediate supervisor called me at home a couple days later for advice on how he could get fired and not lose unemployment, too.
Escaping the casino industry is a goal, in and of itself. I spent six months on unemployment trying out my real estate license then, as UE was about to run out, I was seriously considering either putting applications in at other casinos or placing a gun to my head and pulling the trigger. Then, the US Census Bureau called and offered me a job that would, eventually, turn into the permanent position from which I retired.
Plus, it’s not like I actually worked with the man. I just worked as a drone in two of his casinos, three, if you count the World’s Fair which is, I believe, where the public funds got “lost” and why the stock eventually failed, as I knew it would.
Coming down the third floor escalator to the second floor in what was the old Playboy Casino, he had a huge mural of his head — it had to be 20’ wide X 30’ high, if it was an inch — and surrounding him was full figures of us little people, in our little uniforms, there to serve. You don’t have to be Sigmund Froid to figure that one out.
I didn’t just make up my mind to dislike the man because he decided to run for president. I’ve disliked him immensely for decades and for a myriad of reasons that have nothing to do with politics or being “woke.”
Reasons such as, him bragging about seducing other men’s wives for the sheer SPORT of it.
The day he descended that escalator, I clearly remember thinking to myself that, if by some fluke of American insanity, that man gets elected, this will be the sorriest day of his life. Why? Because he had never undergone the scrutiny he was about to be subjected to and I doubt seriously, that he even gave it a moment’s thought. All the whining he does about how he’s being treated so unfairly when the truth of the matter is that he should have been investigated decades ago. If he hadn’t been born into privilege, he would, most likely, have been incarcerated by the time he was 20.

He spent five years at the military academy: I knew of two kids I went to school with who had been busted with marijuana that were each sent to a military academy for one year so, whatever Trump did, it was more serious than drugs.

During the 2016 campaign, I was certain that he was TRYING to lose by the things coming out of his mouth. Instead, the more outrageous his rhetoric got, the more popular he became.

Like I said, I know precisely what kind of person Donald Trump is — a spoiled, rich brat who gets others to do his dirty work for him, has never had to take responsibility for anything and, who never had to grow up. He is petty, vengeful, childish, thoroughly unfit and claims to want to be a dictator for one day — because that’s how dictators operate.

The question remains, who are you?

  6. Hi. I sympathsise with your work at the casino. My wife worked at one in Ca. for many years and endured the same kind of management. But you were not alone. Ask anyone who works period. Casino, factory, store, etc. Bottom line is money. I left a 6 figure plus job because of ethical reasons and you could of too. When you take the money you either do it their way or you leave. As a former member of upper management, I can say that things that sometime do not make sense on the floor makes perfect sense upstairs. It is a lot different when you have to make payroll that week instead of getting a check. You talk of Trump. Who was the one who reported Epsteins Island . Would you like the list of people who have visited ? Ask Melinda Gates. As far as Biden, would you let your daughter, (one under 15) near him? Ask his daughter. Just keep her hair away from him. Hunter Biden sold the Biden name to the highest bidder. It came out yesterday he was pressuring Westinghouse to sell to the Chinese! Would you like a list of the things Biden has done? It would fill an encyclopedia. My question is since you love Biden and his liberal policies, why would you leave New Jersey? Everything you list as positives are there! Why come here? Do you want all our taxes to go up like in New Jersey to pay for things like illegal immigration ? Are you happy Veterans and the elderly are being tossed out of their care facilities to make room for them. Again, I could go on all day. Who am I? I am a Christian, right wing Maga supporter who believes in God first and that the bible is the Word of God and I try to base my life accordingly. I am also far from perfect and a sinner saved by grace. I am learning everyday my shortcomings and try to correct them. I believe in America, the Constitution, and a veteran who came home with 2 bullets and my life. I worked hard, played by the rules and love my country. Now your turn. Who are you?

  7. How many times must I tell you that I formulated my opinion of the man long before you ever heard of him? As in, the 1980’s when my Teamster friend set me straight about him.
When one works for someone as bombastic as Donald Trump, friends and family feel it’s their obligation to inform one of everything he has ever done or said in public — and is on YouTube for irrefutable proof. For the seven years I worked at Trump properties, my inbox was filled with progressively cringeworthy videos and audio recordings of him saying the most outrageous, disgusting and stupid things.
He is his own worst enemy but blames everyone but himself.
The real tell was when The Art of the Deal came out: the Military Academy was a huge red flag, to me yet, no one has ever asked him a single question about it. I saw an interview with someone claiming to be a good friend of his, at the time he was sent to the academy, who claimed something to the effect that it “…came out of the blue.”
I don’t know if you have kids, but disciplinary action that extreme never “comes out of the blue.”
And, like I said, in those days, he was claiming to be a prochoice Democrat — and showed no serious interest in engaging in politics beyond his support for Bill Clinton, who, I refused to vote for — for ethical reasons.

I left the casino industry because I hated it: I got more recognition from my government job in one year than I got in eleven years in the casinos. It’s a soulless industry but the money’s good — and, yeah, that wears on a person.
I loved working for the government. Plus, I could feel like I was actually doing something for my community.
I never believed in the inherent “evil” of any human being, ever, until I was forced to acquaint myself with that man: apparently, he was very much a bully as a child, according to more than one of his siblings, and he was constantly in trouble, in school (before the military academy).
I strongly suspect that he has a congenital, mental defect that makes him unusually cruel (fetal alcohol syndrome? or, some, as yet, unnamed disorder). Whatever, he’s the perfect storm of nature and nurture. By all accounts, Fred Trump was also a very cruel man.

Every word that comes out of Trump’s mouth is either projection, deflection or confession. Sociopaths tend to think that everyone thinks the same way they do so, when he says some outrageous thing about Joe Biden, he’s telling you what he would do in that circumstance.
And, yes, I would leave Joe Biden alone with any of my children or grandchildren for an afternoon or a weekend — but I wouldn’t leave my dog in Trump’s care for a split second (another tell, what kind of person hates dogs?)
You can repeat whatever Trump says about Joe Biden, but that won’t make it true. Any “crime” they want to accuse Joe Biden of, I can, without equivocation, bet my life and reputation on, that he did not do it. Would you do the same for Trump? Even as he begs his donors for the half billion he needs to pay the State of New York for decades of fraud? And, that’s after posting over $91 million for raping and defrauding E. Jean Carrol?
He is a bad seed — and, that’s from someone who never wanted to believe there was such a thing.
Once you’ve seen it, you can’t unsee it.

    I’ll pray for you, too.

  8. Hi. I followed Trump since about 1974 when he was dealing some properties in Cincinatti. You would bet your life that Biden is innocent of everything he is accused of? You my have to. If Biden is reelected. Obviously recognition is important to you as you highlighted it. I worked in research in Development at a little place in New Mexico for 8 years and saw the government, especially Biden in action. Would you like to know what he requested in exchange for a government contract? Not only him, but politicians on both sides of the aisles. It would turn the stomach of most people. Granted, government jobs are , in management, alot more relaxed than the private sector. It is different for engineers and scienctests because they have major problems to solve. If you choose to follow Biden, fine. That is your choice. If you want this country to to be dismantled more than it is , fine. Just do what CNN says. But when you are forced into socialism, do not whine. This is not the country I fought for and under a Biden regime I would join a militia, ( Which the Dems are trying to get a bill thru to abolish) along with others I know who would do the same. Because when the country becomes like New Jersey, you cannot run from it. Again, you never answered why you left New Jersey when everything tout as progress was right there! We could argue the truth of Trump and compare them to the lies of Biden for weeks. But unfortunately, I have work to do that does not bring me recognition. One sad truth is that I do not have any understanding of how a liberal can claim to be Christian when everything that the Dems advertise as their agenda is in direct opposition to God and His word. Many shed blood for the right to choose and believe as one sees fit. I would back anyone’s choice. no matter if I vehemently detest it. As with you. Freedom came with a price. Look at Afganistan as to how Biden thins of our country. That is just one example. If you feel thqt is moral, that is your right. But even conservatives and Maga individuals have their rights too. Does Biden recognize conservative and MAGA with anything but open contempt? Or is a Democratic president only consider Dems as citizens? Answer to your question, Yes I believe everything Trump states publicly. I cannot speak for his private life anymore than you can speak for Bidens. All I can say know the truth. Because the truth will set you free.

  9. My disdain for the likes of Donald Trump have nothing to do with why I left NJ but, if you must know, I left because I was retired and, since the age of ten, I’ve always wanted to live in WV.
So much for the fantasies of a ten-year-old.
Actually, I loved it here up until about two and a half years ago but, that’s an entirely different story. Plus, I lost my roommate last year and, now, I couldn’t afford to move if I wanted to.
However, I am seriously thinking about spending next summer in NJ with my son and his family. I honestly never thought I’d ever miss NJ but, I do, especially in the summer. Of course, I don’t miss their taxes any more than you miss Callie’s.

Another interesting thing DT said, when asked if he’d ever asked God for forgiveness, his answer was a resounding “no” — does that make him a super-Christian?

  10. Trumps personal life, as well as Obama, Biden , Bush or anyone for that matter, is their personal life. Mike Pence claimed to be a Christian and his actions were anything but. Biden refers to his Catholic faith but all his actions are in direct opposition. Just because someone says they are something does not mean they live it. Whether Trump is a Christian or not, His actions for evangelicals and things like the what he did in Jeruselum show at the very least he is making an effort. But like all of us, he will answer just like everyone else. As far as New Jersey, the shore is beautiful. But so was California. Politics I believe killed both states. We each have seen what happened to both states and how it developed. Our goal was that we seen some of the things that sprouted up there 30 or 40 years ago, which we were told, “Just let it run it course. it will go away” were starting to sprout up here. It not only did not go away but it became almost , in some cases, evil personified. We wanted to see what we could here so the state we left did not evolve here. Hope you enjoy yous summer visit with your son. It really all is about our families.

  11. You’re about to learn he’s not as rich as he claims to be, either. In fact, he isn’t even the businessman he claims to be. He is a fraud in every sense of the word.

But, at least, I got you to admit that Trump isn’t the Christian he claims to be.

    My work, here, is done.

  12. I only said that what Trump believes in private , or anyone else for that matter is their personal belief. Trump may be a more devout Christian than anyone could ever believe. Or maybe not. Wealth is not all liquid. Look what Elon Musk had to go thru to get X. No one should know more about that than a government worker. Enjoy your vacation.

  13. Actually, I owe you an apology. I overstated your admission, you only admitted it’s POSSIBLE that Trump isn’t the Christian he claims to be and that it doesn’t really matter, anyway — or, something to that effect.
    Still, progress in my book.

  14. Apology accepted but not needed. Open discussion does a lot of things on many different levels. We can have differing opinions and still be friends. Hope you visit to Jersey will be all you hope. God Bless!
