Local Apprentice Completes West Virginia Rural Water Apprenticeship Program

The West Virginia Rural Water Association (WVRWA) proudly recognized John Canterbury on January 28, 2026, for the successful completion of the Water Operator in Training Apprenticeship Program.

John completed the WVRWA two-year apprenticeship with the Town of Grantsville, WV, gaining valuable hands-on experience while fulfilling required coursework and on-the-job training. Through his dedication and hard work, he earned his Class 2 West Virginia Water Operator License, marking an important milestone in his professional career and strengthening the local water workforce.

The WVRWA apprenticeship program prepares skilled operators to serve West Virginia communities by combining technical instruction with real-world utility experience. Graduates like John play a critical role in ensuring safe and reliable drinking water for residents across the state.

John was officially recognized during a presentation of his Department of Labor Certificate of Completion, a nationally recognized credential. Throughout his apprenticeship, he also earned CPR/First Aid, Flagger Certification, Water Distribution Certification, Class 1 Water Operator Certification, and successfully completed the program with his Class 2 Water Operator License.

WVRWA congratulates John Canterbury on this outstanding achievement and thanks the Town of Grantsville for its continued commitment to workforce development. His success reflects the value of apprenticeship programs in building strong communities—one water professional at a time.
